This Privacy Policy describes how Practical Apps, MB ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and discloses information when you install or use our App to manage automated fees and products in your Shopify store.

1. How the App Works

Our App enables merchants to recover fulfillment costs by automatically adding customizable fees (such as packaging, insurance, or handling) or specific products to the customer's cart. The App offers full flexibility: merchants can set these fees as mandatory (non-removable) or optional, allowing customers to keep or remove items based on the store’s specific strategy and customer experience goals.

2. Information We Collect

To provide these services and ensure fees are accurately applied, we collect and process the following data:

  • Order and Cart Information: Cart totals, currency, product prices, quantities, and line item details.

  • Transaction Metadata: Order numbers, dates, and timestamps.

  • Shopify IDs: Technical identifiers required to associate the correct fee or product with a specific customer session or checkout.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use this data strictly to:

  • Automate Fee Application: Calculate and apply fees or products based on the merchant’s configuration.

  • Support Merchant Strategy: Manage the logic that determines if a fee is optional or mandatory during the checkout process.

  • Revenue Analytics: Provide merchants with accurate tracking of "Revenue Recovered" through the App dashboard.

  • Service Analytics: We will utilize Google Analytics to monitor app usage and behavior. This helps us analyze how our customers interact with the App, allowing us to continuously improve the user experience and optimize our features.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal or transactional data. Information is shared only with:

  • Shopify: To facilitate integration and ensure fees are processed through the official Shopify checkout.

  • Legal Compliance: If required by law to comply with regulations or legal processes.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Permanent Data (Store Identity): To manage app licensing and essential communications, we retain limited store-level information, specifically the Store URL and the Store owner’s email address, even after uninstallation.

  • Configuration Data Deletion: Upon uninstallation, all data related to your specific app settings, fee configurations, and custom rules is permanently deleted from our servers.

  • Re-installation notice: Because we do not store your configuration history after uninstallation, if you choose to re-install the App in the future, you will be required to complete the setup process and configure your fees and products again from scratch.

  • Mandatory Webhooks: We fully support and respond to Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact) to ensure your data and your customers' data are handled according to global privacy laws.

6. Merchant Responsibility and Transparency

The App provides the technical capability to add fees to the cart. It is the Merchant's responsibility to:

  • Clearly label and describe fees to ensure transparency for the customer.

  • Determine whether a fee should be mandatory or optional in accordance with local consumer protection laws.

  • Ensure that the "non-removable" setting (if used) is applied in a fair and transparent manner.
